What we do?
We are a volunteer-run organization that uses our sewing and hand crafting skills to help members in our community. In the beginning, we made reusable feminine hygiene products. We have moved on from the pads being 100% of our products to about 20%.
We rely completely on donations and try to use as many of those donations as we can, in order to keep them out of the landfills.
We have an intern program that teaches the participants how to sew, do outreach events and take on leadership roles within our organization.
Here is a list of some our projects:
Quilts: Habitat for Humanity new home owners; long-term pediatric patients in local hospitals; NICU isolette covers; veterans and their families at Fisher House; Meridian Health Care - Moms Unit (mom and baby each received a quilt);
Crochet and fleece Hats - given to children at Ronald McDonald House; homeless persons at Grace Marketplace, send to victims of natural disasters.
Fidget Mats - A busy box for adults with dementia to keep their hands busy. Zippers, buttons, small stuffed animals, shells, bells, lace, anything that creates texture.
Reusable feminine hygiene products that are distributed locally and globally
Other projects - flannel hearts for NICU moms; port pillows for people going through Chemo; Angel wraps for babies born too soon.
We teach classes- Beginner Sewing machine, Hand sewing/mending, knitting, crocheting, cross stitch, etc.
Sustainable Sundays - Teach others to make products to replace single use items or to make decorations using scrap fabric or donated items.
